Keeping Your DotNetNuke Site Secure

As with any software, one of the easiest and most important way to maintain security is to be utilizing the latest version possible.  Below is a summary of DotNetNuke releases that contain important patches and/or features impacting security.  PowerDNN strongly encourages all customers to be on the most current version of their release.

Recommended: DotNetNuke 6.1.5

DotNetNuke 6.1.5 is the newest version of the DotNetNuke framework and with over 600 bug fixes and over 30 new features/enhancements, this is the most impressive version of DotNetNuke to date. Expanded security capabilities, better content administration, and faster performance make DotNetNuke 6.1.5 the next generation of the DotNetNuke web application platform.

While DotNetNuke 6.1.5 has been thoroughly tested and is recommended for production, it is a significant upgrade from DotNetNuke 5.x. If you are upgrading your website from DotNetNuke 5.x, you may need to upgrade third party components to a version compatible with DotNetNuke 6.x.

Vulnerable: DotNetNuke 6.1.4 - DotNetNuke 6.0.0
All websites running these versions of DotNetNuke have known issues. If you are running one of these versions, you should upgrade immediately in order to ensure the stability of your website.
Recommended: DotNetNuke 5.6.7
While DotNetNuke 5.6.7 is a stable version of DotNetNuke, it is no longer being actively enhanced by DotNetNuke Corporation.  Customers who are running DotNetNuke 5.6.7 should plan to upgrade to DotNetNuke 6.x in the near future.
Vulnerable: DotNetNuke 5.6.6 - DotNetNuke 1.0.0

All websites running DotNetNuke version 1.0.0 up to 5.6.2 have known issues and may also contain critical security vulnerabilities. If you are running one of these versions, you should upgrade immediately in order to protect the integrity of your website.  Because DotNetNuke 5.6.6 and below contain numerous bugs and security vulnerabilities, customers who choose not to upgrade their websites may incur consulting charges for assistance with DotNetNuke-related issues.
